Harry Cheung · Hong Kong

I'm Harry Cheung, the photographer behind HarryPixel. I grew up in Hong Kong, which means I grew up inside a photograph that is constantly changing. My work begins with the ordinary: a tram turning a corner, a market stall at midday, a basketball hoop against the sky.

In 2026, my series Urban Silhouettes: Echoes of Hong Kong received an Official Selection at the International Photography Awards in the People and Street Photography categories. The work was also featured by K11 MUSEA.

Since 2020 I've explored more than ten cameras across full-frame, APS-C, vintage CCD, Micro Four Thirds, and half-frame systems. The camera changes; the interest doesn't — light, geometry, and the small human dramas that happen inside them.

Approach

How I work

01

Natural light first

I plan around the hour, not the filter. Golden hour, hard midday sun, and blue-hour neon are all part of the palette.

02

Direction without stiffness

For portraits, I give simple prompts and let the in-between moments happen. The best frame is often the one after the pose.

03

A story, not a dump

Every session and series is edited and sequenced. You get a coherent set of images, not hundreds of near-duplicates.
